Gold down on stronger US dollar

SPOT gold was off the boil today, down $US7.35 to $872.6 an ounce at 4.10pm EST as the US dollar strengthened. The bulk of Australian-listed gold miners on the Final Call watchlist followed the precious metal down today with Newcrest ending the session $1.65 lower at $26.98, Lihir Gold slipping 2c to $2.86, and AngloGold Ashanti shedding 19c to $6.95.
