Homestake buys Lake Cowal project

HOMESTAKE Mining Company has slapped down a $375,000 deposit to take ownership of the mothballed Lake Cowal gold project in New South Wales from Rio Tinto.

Homestake will pay an additional $9.625 million at the completion of an agreement period, which is subject to the parties receiving certain government approvals. The company will also pay $2.
