Anaconda posts $83.4 million full-year loss

ANACONDA Nickel has posted a loss of $83.4 million for 2000-2001, sharply higher than the $5.8 million loss clocked-up the previous year, with results strained by weak nickel prices and cost overruns at the Murrin Murrin laterite plant.

The company's loss extended to $76 million in the six months ended June 30, down from a $6.7 million loss in the same period a year earlier. The company didn't give a reason for the loss.
