OceanaGold has now forecast Haile's 2020 production to be in the range of 135,000-175,000oz at a site all-in sustaining cost of between $1100-1400/oz, with the wide output range a function of the uncertainty around the ongoing pandemic.

OceanaGold's original guidance for the year for Haile had been 180,000-190,000oz at $1080-1130/oz.

The 40,000oz that are the subject of the pre-payment are deliverable in the second quarter of 2021.

OceanaGold said the pre-payment "recognises the change in the timing of operating cash flow and provides additional liquidity to continue to manage the near-term risks of COVID-19 while continuing development of Martha Underground ahead of first production in the second quarter of 2021".

Overall, the US and New Zealand miner now expects full year consolidated production of between 295,000-345,000 ounces of gold at an AISC range between $1150 -1250 per ounce sold.

Shares in OceanaGold were down 6.5% to A$3.24 in early trade, capitalising the company at $2 billion.
