Voluntary payment solution to mining hostilities

AFTER months of talks, the Peruvian Government on Thursday unveiled the details of an agreement brokered with mining companies for a voluntary “windfall” payment worth some $780 million over the next five years. MiningNews.net’s South American correspondent Rebecca Howard reports from Peru.

The agreement was originally reached in August, shortly after the Alan Garcia Government took office.
