As the 35 year old youthful-looking CEO Patrick Walta tells it today, he and John Carr - general manager business development at New Century - were on break in South Africa after eight weeks working night shift in the Namibian desert at Paladin Energy's Langer Heinrich.

The two were consultants at the-then recently listed technology provider Clean TeQ, and they'd been trying to convince the uranium miner of the merits of installing a continuous ion exchange circuit at Langer Heinrich.

Over a meal and red wine the two shared some frustrated laughs about the uphill battle their job entailed in selling what they believed were obvious metallurgical solutions and enhancements.
