Decmil has secured a A$30 million contract to design and construct heavy and light vehicle facilities at the Mesa J iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

The scope of the works includes the design and construction of a site laydown area, a new heavy vehicle wash facility, mobile equipment maintenance workshop, bulk lube storage facility, and tyre change facilities.

Decmil will also break down and remove an existing heavy vehicle wash facility and lube storage facility as part of the contract.

The Mesa J work is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

Decmil CEO Dickie Dique said the company was continuing to capitalise on a buoyant iron ore market.

Late in October it secured an $8.7 million contract from Rio to design and construct a laboratory facility at the nearby Mesa A mine, and in September it secured a $41 million contract at Fortescue Metals Group's US$2.6 billion Iron Bridge magnetite project.

The Mesa A contract is expected to begin next March, with completion expected in August 2021 .
