MACA, NRW pick up new civil work

WA contractors MACA and NRW Holdings have picked up work from the majors

MACA was awarded the A$26 million bulk earthworks contract for Fortescue Metals Group and Formosa Steel's Iron Bridge magnetite development in the Pilbara.

The scope of the work includes general earthworks for camp expansion, construction of a 26km mine access road, construction of the explosive facility and access road, and a further 23km of road upgrade works.

Work is already underway.

NRW subsidiary Golding Contractors was awarded a $35 million contract for civil works at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance's Blackwater coal mine in Queensland.

The work comprises earthworks, civil infrastructure, drainage, providing pit flood protection and relocating critical mine infrastructure.

The contract is expected to be completed in January 2021.

Yesterday WestStar Industrial subsidiary Simpec won a $5 million contact with Tianqi Lithium in Kwinana for structural, mechanical and piping, and electrical and instrumentation.

Late last week, construction group Pindan won a $90 million contract for a new accommodation village at Rio Tinto's Koodaideri iron ore development.
