CORPORATELY unsettled diversified junior Greenpower Energy is aiming to add to its rather eclectic battery metals portfolio with the acquisition for cash and shares of high grade Australian cobalt and vanadium focused company Ion Minerals.

The proposed new directors to lead Greenpower have a City background.

Ion's "flagship" asset is a right to acquire an interest in the Lincoln Springs cobalt project in north-east Queensland where rock chip samples reporting up to 3.16% cobalt and 10.4% copper have been picked up.

Ion's assets also include the right to acquire the Ashburton cobalt project in Western Australia (where rock chips up to 1.89% cobalt have been reported), and the Julia Creek vanadium project in Qld.

Ion is a business vehicle of entrepreneurs Cameron McLean and Alistair Williams, both of whom have finance backgrounds and experience in the resources sector.

Assuming the deal goes ahead, McLean will become Greenpower's MD, and Williams a director.
