Rio signs $2B Pilbara native title deal

SEVEN years in the making, a native title deal worth $A2 billion between Rio Tinto and traditional Aboriginal owners in Western Australia’s Pilbara sets a new benchmark for miners and the indigenous community.

It eclipses the recent $1.5 billion package negotiated by Woodside Petroleum with traditional owners to build a gas processing hub at James Price Point, north of Broome.
