Williams, a former chairman and chief executive of Shell Australia and a former director of Woodside Petroleum, is currently a non-executive director of Boral, Origin Energy, and United Group.

He replaces Michael Hamson, who has retired from the board.

QMC, soon to be renamed Australian Magnesium Corporation through ownership restructuring, remains on track with commercialisation and equity raising initiatives for the Stanwell Magnesium Project, the company said.

Details will be released towards the end of the third quarter.

The Stanwell Magnesium Project could result in AMC capturing 20% of the world magnesium market.
