Hits of 2m grading 82.7 grams per tonne gold and 10.5m at 6.6gpt in a "northern shoot" at M1 South will be followed up in upcoming quarters.

The drilling followed early work that highlighted the prospectivity.

The results point to the potential for additional resources, reserves and mine life at Sanbrado, where operations are already scheduled into the next decade.

WAF is currently forecasting average annual production of 216,000 ounces per annum between now and 2030, including 250,000-280,000oz at all-in sustaining costs of US$720-800/oz this year.

Shares in WAF were up 1.6% to A$1.04 in morning trade, capitalising the company at $924 million.
