The series was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was only held in Perth in 2020 and 2021.

This year, the event will return to a multi-city format, taking in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

Previously run as a debate, the format has been shaken up this year and will be conducted in the style of the popular Shark Tank television series.

The topic for this year is: "Above and beyond: What will it take for the gold industry to capture the hearts of gen Z?"

Under the new format, speakers from a range of interesting backgrounds will pitch their ideas and perspectives on the topic to a diverse panel of ‘sharks' who will challenge their thinking.

The Perth event will be held this Friday night, November 4, at the Perth Mint.

The pitchers will be Gold Fields general manager Gruyere Karl Stokes, St Barbara legal counsel Kate Fitzsimons, Bellevue Gold senior mining engineer Surja Pandit and AngloGold Ashanti ventilation engineer Georgia Kerr.

They will pitch to the sharks, comprising Bellevue CEO Darren Stralow, Evolution Mining director Andrea Hall and MiningNews.net editor Kristie Batten.

On November 29, the event will move to the Untied Sydney Rooftop.

One of the pitchers will be Evolution director Vicky Binns, with more to be announced.

The sharks will be GIG director and St Barbara head of people, communications and corporate affairs Justine Fisher, NSW Minerals Council policy director Claire Doherty and Regis Resources external affairs manager Kath Logan.

The series will wrap up in Melbourne on December 1 at The Smith Prahran.

Among the pitchers will be Agnico Eagle Mines human resources manager Nikki Hartley, with more to be announced shortly.

The sharks include St Barbara manager risk and sustainability Tim Hunt, Agnico Eagle process operator Alia Melgin-Hill and Australian Mining journalist Lewis Cross.

GIG chair and Gold Fields vice president, legal, compliance and corporate affairs Kelly Carter will moderate all three events.
