Diggers described Moyo as a "pre-eminent thinker, who influences key decision-makers in strategic investment and public policy".

"She is respected for her unique perspectives, her balance of contrarian thinking with measured judgment, and her ability to turn economic insight into investible ideas," Diggers chairman Jim Walker said.

Moyo is a co-principal of Versaca Investments - a family office, focused on growth investing globally.

She is a former director of Barrick Gold and Barclays and currently sits on the boards of 3M Corporation, Chevron and Conde Nast, as well as the Oxford University Endowment investment committee.

She holds a Doctorate in Economics from Oxford, a Masters from Harvard and her areas of interest are in capital allocation, risk, and ESG matters.

Moyo is a New York Times best-selling author of four books and has spoken at Mining Indaba in Cape Town several times.

She is an honorary fellow of the Foreign Policy Association, member of the Bretton Woods Committee and member of Trilateral Commission.

Moyo was named to the list of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World and has been published in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Barrons and Harvard Business Review.

She will kick off the 31st edition of Diggers on August 1 at the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie.

Her keynote will be followed by about 50 company presentations over three days, with the program to be released in the coming months.

For the past two years, Diggers has been the world's largest mining conference as most events have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, a near-record 2520 delegates attended - all from Western Australia due to border closures - with more than 4000 tuning into the live-stream.
