Coal bursts put 200 jobs in limbo

More than 200 coal mining jobs in NSW remain in limbo as Yancoal seeks clarity from government regulators over the future of the Austar mine near Cessnock, reports the Australian Financial Review.

Safety regulators have barred Yancoal from underground mining at Austar since mid-May following an underground "coal burst", a phenomenon where geological pressures cause a dynamic explosion of rock.

That incident came
