Metals & Mining dropped 3.4% to be the worst-performing sub-sector today, though energy stocks were also sold off.
Plus-4% falls in BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto were partially to blame.
Only gold miners were in positive territory, which must be a nice change for them after being sold off in recent weeks.
The broader S&P/ASX 200 dropped by 0.3% with positive gains outside resources not enough to keep the index in positive territory.
Iron ore took a hit overnight and so did stocks in the sector today.
Mount Gibson Iron was down by 7%, while Fortescue Metals Group, Atlas Iron and BC Iron were all around 5% worse off.
