A LABOUR market survey has revealed $A427 billion worth of resource projects will struggle to survive due to the crippling labour and skills shortage, with an industry body urging governments to speed up a raft of training initiatives to meet the demand.

Labour market forecasting conducted by Pitcrew Consultants revealed the demand for resource construction jobs alone was circa 40,000 workers in the second half of 2011.
