Escondida output continues decline

PRODUCTION at the world’s biggest copper mine Escondida, in Chile, continues to fall, with news its output dropped in the first quarter of this year by 4.2% compared to figures from the previous corresponding period, according to a report released by the mine’s operators.

In the report Minera Escondida, a subsidiary of mining giant BHP Billiton, said output dropped to 235,270 tonnes from the 245,151t in the March quarter last year.
