Franco-Nevada profit up 21%, meets expectations

CANADIAN-based diversified miner Franco-Nevada said today its March quarter earnings rose 21% on the back of higher platinum and palladium prices, investment gains and record production at its Midas gold mine in the United States.

Net earnings were in line with analysts' expectations at C$26.9 million, up from C$22.3 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue in the three-month period was C$78.
