Wesfarmers to develop $160 million Curragh North mine

DIVERSIFIED industrial and energy group Wesfarmers plans to spend $160 million developing a new coal mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin to double recoverable reserves at its Curragh mine after it signed a deal with a state power generator.

Wesfarmers won the rights to develop the Pisces coal resource, located about 10km north of Curragh, from Stanwell Corp, whose Stanwell power station is the main domestic customer for Curragh coal.
