Alrosa eyes US$1.8-1.9bn in uncut diamond sales

RUSSIA'S diamond monopoly Alrosa reportedly plans to boost its production of uncut diamonds to US$1.8-1.9 billion annually in the next two years, from around US$1.4 billion in 2002.

Output would later be increased to US$2 billion a year, Prime-TASS quoted Alrosa president Vladimir Kalitin as saying at a press conference in Moscow.
