Tougher period for copper miner Aeris

Grade and water issues impacted December quarter

Copper production of 5451t for the December quarter was down on the previous quarter (6835t) due to lower copper ore grades and reduced processing rates in December due to water quality issues.

Guidance is now 23,500t-24,500tat A$2.80-2.95 per pound (versus a previously flagged 24,500t), with Aeris pointing to a circa-40,000t stockpile as offering the opportunity to "catch-up some of the lost production".

Aeris had cash and receivables at the December of $17 million, compared to $14.5 million at the end of September and $26.6 million at the end of June.

Aeris' total debt at the end of June was about US$30 million.

Shares in Aeris were down 1.6% to A6c capitalising the company at $27 million.

The stock has fallen from levels above 20c 12 months ago.
