A brownfields gold project in North Queensland currently seeks a General Manager - Operations to lead its successful redevelopment and operation.
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the timely development of the project and its profitability. Key accountabilities will include:
- Evaluating development options
- Overseeing construction & commissioning
- Developing mining strategies including contractor selection
- Recruiting & managing the operations team
- Stakeholder management
- Ensuring HSEC compliance
- Liaising with contractors and consultants
- Budgeting & reporting and much more
This newly created opportunity is with a newly formed mining entity, a wholly owned subsidiary of a sizeable and successful Australian private company with non-resources interests who are diversifying into the mining industry. The project is located close to Charters Towers, so the successful candidate will reside in Townsville, Cairns or Charters Towers districts and commute to site initially on an ad hoc basis before transitioning to a DIDO scenario following commencement of construction. An attractive remuneration package including incentives is provided.
As the ideal candidate, you will be an experienced General Manger with a demonstrable track record in the development and operational management of opencut gold projects. Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy or similar and a high level of technical proficiency in gold processing will be greatly advantageous.
