Xanadu's massive Mongolian copper-gold play taking further shape

XANADU Mines is scoping the potential for an initial higher grade development scenario at its Kharmagtai project in Mongolia after boosting resources at the project to 598 million tonnes containing 1.9Mt of copper and 4.3 million ounces of gold.

The higher grade scenario is focused on 54Mt grading 0.86% copper equivalent, with the scoping work due for completion this quarter.

Xanadu will also now look at the potential of defining shallow oxide gold resources at the Golden Eagle prospect for a possible leaching development that "may have strong synergies with a starter project".

Meanwhile resource drilling at the recent Zaraa discovery is continuing, with the maiden estimate to "provide the platform from which potential mining scenarios can be explored".

Zaraa is 2km from the defined resources at Kharmagtai and "one option is to develop an underground drive from the bottom of the Kharmagtai open pit directly to the high-grade core at Zaraa containing greater than 2% copper equivalent material".
