Got nickel-cobalt mineralisation, need processing solution: Carnavale

CARNAVALE Resources says drilling has confirmed it’s got a significant commercial opportunity on its hands at the Grey Dam nickel and cobalt project east of Kalgoorlie, while cautioning investors this assessment is subject to defining a “suitable low cost extraction process”.

The junior, which has previously suggested heap leaching was a potential option, said RC drilling had defined "strong" nickel and cobalt mineralisation from surface that's up to 44m thick and across an area 1.2km by 1km.

A new resource estimate is planned as is metallurgical testwork and assessment of the nickel-cobalt-copper sulphide potential.

Carnavale released a string of hits grading between 1-1.2% nickel and 0.15-0.25% cobalt from 5000m of drilling, with existing non-JORC compliant resources of 1.8 million tonnes grading 1.16% nickel and 0.11% cobalt using a 1% nickel cut-off.

Carnavale acquired the project in March, saying at the time "an important aspect of the resource estimate is that the cobalt grade has been diluted to a significantly lower ...
