Super pit concept flagged for Youanmi by veterans at Venus

VETERAN directors comprising the board at Venus Metals Corp believe development of a single “super pit” connecting existing open cuts at the previously mined Youanmi project in Western Australia could add further ounces to the nearly 1.2 million ounces currently estimated.

Chairman Alan Birchmore, managing director Matthew Hogan and exploration director Barry Fehlberg have signed off on "near surface" resources of 10 million tonnes grading 1.65 grams per tonne for 532,700oz, and believe previous drilling indicates a further 2-2.6 million tonnes grading 1.05-1.3gpt can be considered as an exploration target.

As the CEO of Bond International Gold in the 1980s, Birchmore was responsible for the initial construction and start-up of the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie. He was also the founding chairman of St Barbara, which was a not insignificant dirt mover in its own right at Meekatharra back in the day.

Youanmi also has 2.4Mt at 8.5gpt for 658,000oz as a "Deeps" resource, with another circa-70,000oz potentially to be added as an exploration target...
