Maximus defends Burbanks operation

MAXIMUS Resources says it is perplexed that Empire Resources has decided to air dirty laundry regarding a dispute over ore from Penny’s Find mine that was toll-treated in the refurbished Burbanks mill outside Kalgoorlie, Western Australia last year.

Last week Empire raised three issues - a failure by Maximus Resources to pay the correct amount, a discrepancy in ounces recorded and errors in calculation of belt calibration adjustments - it said had "lost" it some 700 ounces of gold worth around A$830,000.

Speaking on Thursday, Maximus boss Kevin Malaxos told MNN he didn't want to thrash out the issues in public because the contract with Empire set out how disputes would be resolved, but he does not contest there is a difference in tallies between the two companies that can be solved by letting the established processes play out.

"We are half way through that mediation process, and we are a little intrigued as to why they [Empire] have done this," he said.
