Hastings decouples plant to slash costs

RARE earths hopeful Hastings Technology Metals believes it can save 13%, or A$68 million, from the costs of its proposed Yangibana development by “decoupling” the hydrometallurgical plant from the mine in the Gascoyne region and locating the facility to the north in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Yangibana's costs have tumbled

Key savings come from eliminating the need for a 114km gas pipeline, reducing the need for onsite water abstraction and power requirements by 40%, and cutting access road distances by 50km.
