WESTERN Australian environment minister Albert Jacob has upheld in part a decision made by the Environmental Protection Authority in August, which recommended against the proposed Yeelirrie uranium mine.

The EPA initially found the proposed project posed too great a chance of a loss of 12 species of subterranean fauna, in particular stygofauna, which may be restricted to the impacted area.
