Mechanical Sorter

Novo Resources
Novo Resources Corp

Novo Resources Corp (Novo) purchased a Steinert KSS Mechanical sorter (Sorter) unit (Figure 1) in July 2020. The total usage hours for the sorter would be less than 1,000 hours and therefore in as new condition. It has been predominantly used for test work rather than being exposed to a production environment.

The Sorter known as a combination sensor sorting system, comes with a combination of sensor technologies that can be used individually or in combination (Figure 2). The sensors that are fitted to the Novo owned Sorter include;

  • X-ray Transmission (XRT)
  • 3D and Colour lasers
  • Electro-magnetic induction (EM)

The Sorter has a 1.0 m wide belt that is capable of throughputs up to 300 tph (feed size range and belt coverage dependent), however is dependent on differing material characteristics and testing as determined and recommended by Steinert.

The structure which houses the Sorter is a combination of 4 Sea Containers with a Deck which houses the Sorter.

On the upper floor, one of the Containers is the control room whilst the other serves a crib room.

On the bottom floor, one of the containers houses the compressor and air dryer, whilst the other is used for storage purposes.
