Perth-based Vortex comprises a number of businesses including Pumps United, Rhino FSD, Sumo Plug N Play Gear and Conhur.

The acquisition makes NPE, which was formed in Mackay in 2001, the largest pump rental and specialty dewatering company in Australia.

The company will have more than 6000 dewatering pumps and generators in its hire fleet with a national footprint spanning 12 branches across five states and one territory, with in excess of 450 employees.

"We are all very excited by the acquisition of the Vortex Group which will see NPE become the largest specialty pump rental company in Australia," NPE managing director Dave Campbell said.

"Our newly expanded footprint and capabilities will allow an even higher level of support for our customers with additional branch locations nation-wide and the largest fleet of specialised dewatering hire equipment in the country."
