AS IT gets set to unveil a big expansion, Metro Mining and its thriving Bauxite Hills operation north of Weipa in far north Queensland looks a very rare beast indeed; a junior that’s been able to quickly develop as a producer and set itself up to transition into a long-life profitable mining company.

Bauxite Hills, Skardon River, Far North Queensland

Metro is currently producing bauxite at a rate above its 3.5 million tonnes per annum name and is about to commit to a 6Mtpa operation that's flagged to be producing until nearly 2040.
