Coal mine to restart after fatality

THE Bengalla coal mine in New South Wales will restart today after the death of a worker on Saturday after an incident at the mine.

It is believed Quinton Moore, 37, was undertaking maintenance on a tyre on Saturday night when it fell on him, though investigations are continuing.

Moore was pronounced dead when emergency services arrived at the mine at around 8pm. 

A Bengalla Mining Company spokesman said everyone at the company has been diligently responding "with heavy hearts to the tragic event on Saturday night at the mine".

"First and foremost Bengalla will continue to support Quinton's family, our staff and suppliers as we come together at this difficult time," he said.
