Neometals moves vanadium from steel slag venture into prefeasibility

NEOMETALS has moved its potential vanadium project in Sweden into a prefeasibility phase after being encouraged by scoping work suggesting a US$159 million development could generate pre-tax operating cashflow of $573 million over an operational life of 10.5 years.

Recovering vanadium from steel slag is not a conventional mining operation

The project, which would recover vanadium from steel slags, would have an operating cost of $3.92 per pound versus a modelled selling price of $8.64/lb.

Annual production would be 12.2 million lbs.
