THE mood in Australia’s mining industry had shifted two years ago at the country’s premier annual investment conference, Diggers & Dealers, in Western Australia. By the time last year’s event rolled around there was plenty of good production and profit news to vindicate the earlier optimism. Now, on the eve of the 2018 gathering, the industry finds itself at a familiar fork in the road.
