WHILE miners at BHP Billiton’s Escondida copper mine in Chile have ended a six-week long labour strike, the longer term situation out of the world’s biggest copper mine remains less certain.

Workers plan to go back to their posts on Saturday and expect a return to normal production in about two weeks, with BHP suggesting it may take 6-8 months to get the entire operation back to normal.
