BHPB targets 45,000tpa at Ravensthorpe

BHP Billiton has spent $70 million on a pilot plant for its Ravensthorpe laterite nickel project in Western Australia and is aiming to produce 45,000t of nickel in concentrate before the end of the decade.

According to a report by Deutche Bank, BHPB wants to bring the project into production by the second half of 2006, with the current feasibility study due to be completed by the first quarter next year....
