BHP has discussions but no guarantees from Mitsui over Caemi

MELBOURNE: BHP said today it had held talks with the Japanese group who could derail the Australian miner's $1.13 billion grab for control of Brazilian iron ore group Caemi.

However BHP chief strategic officer Marcus Randolph acknowledged that the company had no guarantees that Japanese trading house Mitsui would not exercise its pre-emptive rights over Caemi.
