Collahuasi submits study for US$600 million copper expansion

ONE of Chile's largest copper producers, Collahuasi, has lodged an environmental impact statement with the National Environmental Committee for a US$600 million plan to expand its concentrator and shift extraction facilities.

The plan involves two projects. The first is to transfer extraction operations from the open pit Ujina deposit, where ore grade is declining, to the adjacent Rosario ore body at a cost of US$200 million....
