ABARE: Minerals, energy exports to rise marginally in 2001-02

AUSTRALIA'S total minerals and energy export sales are expected to grow a modest 1.5% to $57.3 billion in 2001-02 after gaining 27% to a record $56.5 billion in 2000-01, according to the Australian government commodities forecaster, ABARE.

Coal is expected to be the stand-out performer, with ABARE forecasting 17% growth to a record $12.6 billion, while exports of metals and related minerals are expected to rise by about 1% to $31.
