Homestake pushes for owner mining at Darlot gold mine

HOMESTAKE Gold is continuing its owner mining push in Australia by seeking to install its own equipment and employees at the 120,000 ounce per year Darlot underground gold mine in Western Australia.

The Darlot change-over is expected to cost Homestake around $12 million and follows the US company's move (with Normandy Mining) to eliminate contract mining at the Kalgoorlie Super Pit.
