Dampier Salt secures ISO 14001 certification

RIO TINTO subsidiary Dampier Salt – Australia’s biggest exporter of salt and gypsum – has been certified to ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management.

MiningNews.Net

The certification was awarded in recognition of the company's successful development and implementation of Dampier Salt's environmental management systems at both its Dampier operation and its Lake MacLeod operation near Canarvon in Western Australia.

This certification also recognises that Dampier Salt has developed a robust system for identifying and addressing the environmental impacts of its operations, and has successfully integrated environmental management into the business planning and project development stages of its operations.

Dampier Salt is only the third major Rio Tinto mining operation in Australia to be certified to ISO 14001.
