Lawson Gold Limited (ASX : LSN) has recently signed a joint venture with Mawarid Investments Limited to acquire up to 51% interest in an extensive portfolio of gold, copper and base metal exploration assets in Saudi Arabia. Lawson Gold are now building a team of high achieving geoscientists to drive an accelerated exploration program.

Key Roles:
- Leadership and overall management of exploration activities and project evaluation studies.
- Implement effective technical operating systems and risk management systems.
- Reporting to the CEO and Board on budgets and work programs.
As the Chief Geologist, you will be accountable for managing , planning and implementing mineral exploration programmes on the Arabian - Nubian Shield in western Saudi Arabia. You will be involved in increasing shareholder value through the discovery and evaluation of new mineral resources and reserves and development of new mining operations. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring competitor and general mining industry activity in Saudi Arabia and identify further investment opportunities.
The role offered is residential “in country” based in Jeddah, though possible extended term FIFO may be considered for the right candidate.
Qualifications Required:
- BSc degree in Geology or higher level qualification
- Appropriate class Drivers License.
- First Aid Certificate or relevant skills and experience
Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum 15 years experience in varied geological environments and mineralisation styles (some international experience preferred)
- Inspirational technical leader and level-headed manager.
- Strong professional capabilities and respected by industry peers.
- Corporate abilities in presentation to JV partners, shareholders and investment community.
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, including dealing with Government matters.
- Proficient in a wide range of exploration practices and techniques, including geochemistry, structural geology and geophysical interpretation.
- Awareness and abilities to manage safety, health and environmental requirements of the workplace.
- Good understanding of cultural sensitivities within work areas.
- Computer literate – Windows, MS Office (essential), ArcGIS, MapInfo Discover, Micromine (or equivalent)
