NRW in line for $350M contract

NRW Holdings looks set to pick up some new work in Queensland’s coal sector, with its Golding Contractors in line to secure a A$350 million contract over the next three years – if work recommences at the stalled Baralaba North expansion.

The mine's owner, ASX-listed Baralaba Coal Company, has issued a limited notice to proceed that allows Golding to immediately commence certain preliminary services at commercial rates such as mine planning; the removal of topsoil and drilling.

While the preliminary works are ongoing the company will seek to negotiate in good faith the outstanding commercial terms of a final binding contract mining agreement that would include blasting, loading and hauling overburden; loading and hauling of coal; and handling coal through the crushing and screening plant.

The companies hope to finalise the contracts in the next 35 days, but if an agreement is not reached within 45 days the limited contract will be terminated automatically.
