NICKEL recorded the biggest drop in prices on the London Metal Exchange overnight with its price slashed by $US600 to $20,600 a tonne. This is a far cry from its peak price set on May 4, 2007, when $51,600/t was reached, and down on the $21,950/t received a week ago.

Pipeline failure hits Minara production

A PIPELINE failure in May has hit Minara’s nickel production figures for the quarter. The company’s 60%-owned Murrin Murrin mine produced only 6680 tonnes of nickel for the three months to the end of June, down from 7832t in the March quarter.
