FOR the record, the Colluli potash project in Eritrea has again been flagged to have an expected mine life of about 200 years, with reserves of 1.1 billion tonnes estimated after a broadly similar number was unveiled back in 2015.

So far as the here and now is concerned, Colluli's 50% owner Danakali is continuing to work on the bankable offtakes required for debt financing, as well as the listing on the London Stock Exchange that's a key part of the equity funding to be sought.

Danakali needs to find about US$302 million to get the show on the road at Colluli, with the project fully permitted.

Danakali, which was formerly known as South Boulder Mines, has been working on the project since 2009, with production originally envisaged in 2016 "or sooner".

Danakali started 2018 with A$15.5 million cash, with a further $3.4 million worth of options ‘in-the-money'.
