HIGHLANDS Pacific has unveiled a maiden resource at its Star Mountains project in Papua New Guinea as it seeks to attract a new partner.

The inferred resource totals 210 million tonnes grading 0.4% copper and 0.4 grams per tonne for a contained 840,000t of copper and 2.9 million ounces of gold.

The resource is from the Olgal prospect one of a number identified and drilled on the 1094sq.km package.

Highlands believes Olgal’s mineralisation could be amenable to conventional flotation, while also saying it was unclear whether it might be an open cut or block cave-type mining development.

Star Mountains is 20km from the Ok Tedi copper mine.
