AEON Metals has doubled the copper resource at Walford Creek in northwest Queensland as well as outlining “one of the highest grade and largest tonnages of cobalt metal content among the cobalt sulphide deposits in Australia”.

The copper lode resource at Walford Creek comes in at 15.7 million tonnes grading 1.24% copper and 0.15% cobalt, while the cobalt “peripheral” resource totals 18Mt at 0.11% cobalt.

The copper resource comprises the established Vardy zone and the new Marley zone, with Aeon optimistic higher grade accumulations of copper mineralisation can be found in the latter given the promising indications and wide drill spacing.

The analyst team at Bell Potter were impressed by the resource.
