PEEL Mining’s belief that it’s discovered “a major high-grade zinc-rich mineral system” at Southern Nights has been further reinforced, with plans now afoot to begin a resource drill-out and first-pass metallurgical test work in the coming weeks.

The reinforcement followed continuing strong drill hits including 46 metres grading 17% zinc, 9.6% lead, 272 grams per tonne silver and 1.22gpt gold.

High grade mineralisation is now said to have been defined over more than 300m of strike, “open in all directions”.

In addition, Peel pointed to potential over a total of 2.7km strike length – following anomalous RAB drilling results – taking in the area between Southern Nights and Wagga Tank and south of the former.

Gold miner St Barbara holds a 16% stake in Peel.

Peel raised A$6 million in November for its work at Southern Nights, with new shares issued at 40c.
