MACPHERSONS’ hopes of finding a lookalike of the prolific Mount Charlotte orebody in Western Australia’s Goldfields has received further confirmation with shallow drilling at Boorara finding bonanza grades up to 348 grams per tonne.

Boorara has a strike identified over 1.5km across the Southern Stockwork, Crown Jewel and Northern Stockwork deposits just 10km east of Kalgoorlie, and the hope is that its shallow expressions have a short strike, similar to Mt Charlotte, which extends vertically for over 1200m depth. 

MacPhersons’ drilling last December suggested a larger mineralised system than had been proven, and the company has split its focus with a mix of shallow and deep drilling over the past year to prove its structural interpretation.

It has been running two RC rigs since October, but after drilling some 31,000m and completing two deep diamond drillholes the decision has been made to pause.
